Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

I sometimes forget that the devil has already lost. Paul clearly describes the spiritual war that we’re engaged in. He tells us who the enemy is and he tells what weapons we have to fight with. I have no trouble grasping the concept. I can feel the struggle and the tension on a daily basis. The war is very real. I seem to lose as many skirmishes as I win and that sometimes causes me to doubt. Here’s the deal though…the real war is over. When Jesus said, “It is finished” and died on the cross; Satan was defeated. When he walked out of that tomb; sin and death had lost. Yes, I will sometimes stumble and make a mess of things. I will feel defeated but I must never forget that Jesus has made me a victor through his blood.
Lord, help me to remember that You have won the war. Give me the strength to fight the battles until You return and I experience complete victory.
