Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.
Romans 12:21 (CSB)

It is so hard to do the right thing when the wrong thing feels more rewarding. When someone says or does something bad to me my first response is lash out. I want to get revenge. I want to hurt them the same way they hurt me. It is especially difficult to refrain from this type of behavior on social media. It is so easy to sit in front of the computer (or phone) and unleash my wrath on those who have offended me. It feels good even though I know that nothing positive comes from it. I have to remind myself that Jesus stood silent before those who abused and mocked him. He asked the Father to forgive those who were crucifying him while he was being crucified. Love overcomes evil. When I lash back out I hurt myself as much (if not more) than the object of my anger.
Lord, give me the strength to show Your love and grace to those who hurt me. Let love rule in my life. Help me to conquer evil with good.
